How do adolescent students and their teachers conceptualize classroom incivility?

Classroom incivility is an important construct to be addressed in relation adolescent development. Therefore, the current study investigated similarities and differences between perceptions of students teachers. Participants consisted 40 intermediate high school teachers 52 grades 7-12. Both rated how serious often uncivil behavior occurred classroom. also responded open-ended questions, allowing for a deeper exploration their perceptions. Our results revealed that consider behaviors may disrespectful towards teacher as more than do themselves. Teachers adolescents engaging each other most serious, well discussing negative implications learning environment. Taken together, findings this are addition existing literature on incivility, while being directly applicable classroom setting.
